Yeah... I totally get that feels. Today is a recording day, according to my schedule, but I didn't quite finish my editing yesterday, so I'm holding the recording session hostage.

That's actually my plan for amplificathon, I'm not allowed to record the next chapter until I've finished editing the previous one, though I might mix that up. I ended up missing my goal yesterday because I had a headache, which I still had when I woke up this morning, and I'm slightly afraid I might get sick. So perhaps I'll record a few chapters so if I lose my voice I don't run out of recorded parts to work on.

I suspect that getting a short podfic or two polished will probably help with that attitude, though.
The satisfaction of finishing a podfic can be really motivating, so I think your plan is a good one. :D
